Sue Berman Kress holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Purdue University. Before retiring she specialized with children, adolescents and families. She was also a parent coach, working with parents to create boundaries and structure for their families, understand stages of development, and work through difficult family transitions.
Sue has been volunteering with nonprofit organizations for over 30 years in both the Jewish and secular communities, both locally and nationally. She has held numerous local leadership roles with the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, Hillel Jewish University Center, Jewish Association on Aging, the Ellis School, as well as other local organizations. Nationally, she has been a member of Jewish Federations of North America National Young Leadership Cabinet and National Women’s Philanthropy Board, completed the Wexner Foundation’s Heritage Program and served on their Alumni Council, and served on the board of Hillel International.
Sue has been volunteering with local political efforts for approximately ten years. She joined the board of DJOP after the 2020 Pennsylvania gubernatorial campaign. That campaign was of singular importance because Sue was deeply involved in the Pittsburgh community’s response to the antisemitic massacre at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, and this campaign occurred less than two years after that tragedy.
