David Oxman, MD

David Oxman is an intensive care doctor, writer and medical school professor. He is a longtime activist on public health threats like gun violence, the opioid crisis, medical disinformation and our broken health insurance system. During the COVID pandemic, he cared for patients on the front lines while working to create system-wide solutions to a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic. His work in global health has taken him to Central America and Africa.

As a clinical researcher David has published numerous academic articles and book chapters, and his opinion pieces have appeared in The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Hill, MedPage Today and The Philadelphia Citizen. He is also a former Democratic candidate for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 3rd District. 

David is married to Marissa Wilck (a physician and scientist), the father of two amazing kids – Jakob and Lia – and a proud Philadelphia School District parent. He lives in South Philadelphia where he belongs to the South Philadelphia Shtiebel.
