Democratic Jewish Outreach Pennsylvania (DJOP) said today that Donald Trump’s pick of US Sen. J.D. Vance as his Vice Presidential running mate gives him the perfect partner for the Republican Party’s drive to instill the extreme right-wing values of its Project 2025 were they to win the election — including adding Christian nationalism to every facet of government policy.
Jill Zipin, Chair of the state-wide political action committee, said the extent to which Vance is a polarizing figure “is seen in how he quickly blamed President Joe Biden for the assassination attempt on Trump — with no evidence whatsoever to support his unsubstantiated inflammatory accusation.”
Zipin said, “Even worse, in selecting election-denier J.D. Vance Trump now has a Vice Presidential candidate who would do what Mike Pence refused to do — to illegally overturn the vote of the American people.”
Zipin said before Vance decided to support Trump he was on record as having called himself “a never Trump guy.” He called Trump “America’s Hitler” and said he was “unfit to hold office.” Zipin said:
“Our task, though, is to make certain that the voters know J.D. Vance’s true record. He has flip-flopped on abortion, at one point saying he wants a national absolute ban, with no exceptions. He has said that women in troubled relationships with men should remain in those relationships. As Vice President he would be a direct threat to the lives of a majority of Americans.”
