DJOP endorses Janelle Stelson
in U.S. House District PA-10 race
The Democratic Jewish Outreach Pennsylvania (DJOP) today announced its
endorsement of Janelle Stelson for the state’s 10 th District seat in the U.S. House of
Representatives.
Jill Zipin, Chair of the state-wide political action committee, said Stelson’s commitment
to reproductive rights for women and her defense of voting integrity — compared to six-
term incumbent Republican Scott Perry’s leading role as a 2020 election denier —
“makes us proud to work for Janelle Stelson’s election from Pennsylvania’s 10 District.”
Zipin said that as an Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist for three decades,
Stelson has wide experience talking with and listening to the people of Central
Pennsylvania. She said that national Democratic officials agree that a Democrat can
win in the district, and that early polls show a virtual tie five months out from Election
Day on Nov. 5.
“Scott Perry has voted against bipartisan legislation to rebuild the state’s roads and
bridges,” Zipin said.
“He has voted against allowing the government to negotiate lower prescription drug
prices. He voted to defund the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He was investigated
for his role in the violence of January 6, 2021. And he was the only Congressmember
from Pennsylvania — Democrat or Republican — to vote against giving a medal to the
Capitol Hill police officers who bravely defended our democracy on January 6.
“The fact that Scott Perry voted against certifying Pennsylvania’s election results in
2020, and his role as an architect of Donald Trump’s plan to pressure Vice President
Pence to throw out electoral votes from states won by Joe Biden, shows that he cannot
be trusted by the voters. He is an extremist who does not represent the values of
Pennsylvanians.”
Founded in 2008, DJOP is a state-wide political action committee that supports
progressive candidates and legislation and sponsors educational programs on
contemporary issues. With board members throughout Pennsylvania, DJOP’s efforts are
