“Can Donald Trump stoop any lower?”
That’s the question Jewish Democratic Outreach Pennsylvania (DJOP) is asking after
Trump’s statement Saturday that any Jewish voter who supports Kamala Harris for
President “should immediately have their head examined.” (1.)
Jill Zipin, Chair of the state-wide political action committee DJOP, said that Trump’s
remark “shows that he hates people who oppose him, as the Jewish community does
overwhelmingly.”
Zipin said:
“Can Donald Trump can stoop any lower? He seems obsessed with Jewish citizens
who vote Democratic and with anyone else who disagrees with him. His same post
Saturday about Jewish voters contained an unhinged claim that the Biden-Harris
administration is ‘persecuting Catholics’ (2.) That same day he told an audience,
‘Christians, get out and vote just this time. You won’t have to do it anymore. Four more
years. You know what? It’ll be fixed.’ (3.)
“What in the world is he talking about?” Zipin asked. “We can only assume that he
wants to be king for life, elected only by Christians. The Kamala Harris campaign is
correct in characterizing this as a promise to end democracy.
“It appears that the Harris campaign’s growing success in fundraising and polling has
driven Trump to new levels of fantasy and desperation.
“We would prefer to ignore Trump’s rants. But we fear that his comments are deliberate
efforts to stir up even more antisemitism than his previous remarks have created,
whether it was his ludicrous statement that there were ‘some very fine people’ among
the torch-carrying white nationalists who chanted Nazi slogans in Charlottesville, VA on
August 11 and 12, 2017 (4.) or his consistent disparagement of Jewish voters who do
not accept his bullying remarks.”
