Governor Josh Shapiro has built his career around delivering results for Pennsylvanians and bringing people together to solve tough problems. Since taking office as Governor of Pennsylvania, Shapiro has focused on strengthening public education, improving public safety, creating jobs, and lowering costs for working families across the Commonwealth.
Under his leadership, Pennsylvania has made historic investments in public education, hired hundreds of new law enforcement officers, created thousands of jobs, and expanded opportunities for students and workers alike. Shapiro has championed free breakfast programs in public schools, increased access to mental health counselors and resources for students, and expanded pathways for high school graduates through workforce training, apprenticeships, and higher education. He has made it a priority to travel across the Commonwealth and meet directly with Pennsylvanians from all walks of life.
Before becoming governor, Shapiro served as Pennsylvania’s Attorney General from 2017 to 2023, where he focused on restoring integrity and accountability to the office. He led a landmark investigation into decades of child sexual abuse and cover-ups within the Catholic Church, exposing abuses involving more than 300 predator priests and thousands of victims. As Attorney General, Shapiro also fought to protect healthcare access for 2 million Pennsylvanians, defended reproductive rights, protected voting rights, and worked with law enforcement partners to keep drug dealers and illegal guns off our streets.
Prior to serving as Attorney General, Shapiro was Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners and served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Throughout his career, he has focused on government accountability, economic opportunity, and protecting the rights and freedoms of Pennsylvanians.
Shapiro comes from a family tradition of service. His father was a Navy veteran and pediatrician, while his mother was an educator. He has carried those values throughout his life and career. He and his wife, Lori, are raising their four children with a strong commitment to faith, family, and public service.
Now, Governor Shapiro is running for reelection to continue moving Pennsylvania forward and delivering results for communities across the Commonwealth.
