Born and raised in Philadelphia, Brendan Boyle has represented Pennsylvania’s 2nd Congressional District since he was first elected in 2014.
In the U.S. House of Representatives, Boyle serves as Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, where he is the lead Democrat overseeing the federal budget process. He fights to protect working families and ensure they are prioritized in the federal budget. Boyle also serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, with a focus on health and trade issues.
Boyle has long been a champion for working families and organized labor. In 2016, he co-founded the Blue Collar Caucus to focus greater attention on issues affecting working people, including wage stagnation, job insecurity, trade, offshoring, and reduced career opportunities in the manufacturing and building trades.
His work in Congress also focuses on international affairs and strengthening relationships between democratic allies. In 2025, Boyle was named lead Democrat for the U.S. Congressional Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. The delegation brings together members of Congress and parliamentarians from all 32 NATO member countries to provide legislative oversight of the NATO alliance and collaborate on global challenges. Boyle also serves as co-chair of the Congressional European Union Caucus, helping strengthen the transatlantic partnership between the United States and the European Union.
Prior to serving in Congress, Boyle represented Northeast Philadelphia in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for six years. In Harrisburg, he supported record funding for public schools and helped build bipartisan support for Act 89, the first major transportation bill passed in Pennsylvania in more than 20 years.
Outside of Congress, Boyle serves as a Visiting Lecturer at Princeton University. He continues to engage on issues of economic policy, international affairs, and public service.
