Austin Davis

Lt. Governor

Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis grew up in the Mon Valley of Western Pennsylvania, where he saw firsthand the challenges facing working families and industrial communities. From an early age, he knew he wanted to dedicate his life to public service and building safer, stronger communities.

Davis began his career in Allegheny County government, where he helped lead the county’s transition teams and worked to establish its first violence prevention office. In 2018, he was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and was later chosen by his colleagues to lead the Allegheny County House Democratic Delegation.

In 2022, Davis was elected alongside Governor Josh Shapiro as Pennsylvania’s 35th lieutenant governor, becoming both the first African-American lieutenant governor in state history and the youngest sitting lieutenant governor in the nation.

As lieutenant governor, Davis serves as President of the Pennsylvania Senate and chairs several statewide boards and commissions, including the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Council. He helped secure $85 million in Violence Intervention and Prevention grants supporting more than 130 projects statewide, increased funding to protect places of worship and community centers, and secured $60 million in new funding for county 911 services. Davis also championed the creation of the Building Opportunity through Out of School Time (BOOST) program, directing $11.5 million toward after-school programs for young people across Pennsylvania.

Davis helped reestablish Pennsylvania’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention and secured a $4 million federal grant to expand violence intervention programs. As chair of the Board of Pardons, he has focused on modernizing the clemency process by launching a fully online application system, increasing staffing, and overseeing a record number of hearings. He has also served as chair of the Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association and as a member of the National Lieutenant Governors Association.

Davis lives in the Mon Valley with his wife, Blayre Holmes Davis, and their daughter, Harper. He is running for reelection alongside Governor Shapiro to continue delivering results and moving Pennsylvania forward.
