Political strategist Joel Rubin spoke at the DJOP friendraiser in Pittsburgh.
Joel, a Squirrel Hill native and longtime Democratic foreign-policy operative, warned that the party is in a fight over antisemitism and Israel, and blasted Bernie Sanders for backing anti-Israel candidates like Graham Platner, who had a Nazi tattoo.
Rubin said Jews still have a home in the party, but only if they speak up now. Party leaders know there’s a problem but were caught off guard by the base’s shift. He urged talking to critics rather than writing them off, and said Jewish participation is now the defining question for Democrats.
