What Now?

Many Democrats last week were upset by those in our party who voted to end the shutdown. However, Democrats still have the upper hand and are poised to do well in 2026. Food and housing prices continue to rise and healthcare costs are set to skyrocket. The blame, for all the above noted problems, lies with the GOP as the GOP controls the House, the Senate, the White House and holds a majority on the Supreme Court. Below are some interesting articles that discuss what Democrats can do as we move into 2026.

  1. When the dust settles on the shutdown deal, Democrats will likely still have the edge. Read More here.

Let us not forget what we as Democrats accomplished on Election Day in PA.

  • All our statewide judicial candidates won and won big!
  • In Dauphin County Democrats elected two Democratic women to the Common Pleas Court, the first time a Democrat has been elected there since 1991 and Democrats won two of the three row offices.
  • Danny Ceisler won as Sheriff in Bucks County and Democrats swept all the contested School Board races.
  • Horsham PA, a longtime GOP stronghold, Democrats swept both the School Board and Town Council
  • Democrats flipped the Erie County Executive race

And there were many more wins across this great Commonwealth. We continue to have the wind at our backs and momentum on our side.

All of us, working together, have the power to stop the corruption and malfeasance of Republicans and Trump. We can and must retake the House and the Senate in 2026. Do not let what happened last week distract us from our mission of saving Democracy. What can we do now? Continue to support your local, state, and federal elected Democrats right here in PA.
