Claiming that his comments continue to prove that “apparently nothing is too low for
Donald Trump,” Democratic Jewish Outreach Pennsylvania (DJOP) said today that
Trump’s latest attack on the Jewish community “again demonstrates he is totally unfit to
hold office.”
In an interview posted online yesterday, Trump told Sebastian Gorka, a far-right former
White House aide with ties to neofascist and antisemitic groups in Hungary, “Any
Jewish person that votes for Democrats hates their religion…They hate everything
about Israel and should be ashamed of themselves because Israel will be destroyed.”
Jill Zipin, Chair of the statewide political action committee DJOP, called the remark
“another page from the Trump dictator playbook.” She stated:
“It is dangerous for Donald Trump to spread toxic stereotypes that cast aspersions on
fellow citizens. Real leaders recognize this as hateful. They work to bring Americans
together to defend democracy, not destroy it.
“Unfortunately, Trump’s record is consistent. In 2019 he falsely called the Democratic
Party ‘anti-Israel’ and antisemitic. He said Democratic Jewish voters were ‘very disloyal
to Israel and to the Jewish people.’
“Now, in just one week Trump has shown again how vile and racist he is by renewing
his rant against Jewish voters. He promised a ‘bloodbath’ and an end all elections if he
does not win in November and continues to dehumanize minorities and immigrants and
threatens to jail his political opponents.
“DJOP believes that voters will reject Trump’s dystopian views of America and vote to
give him time to direct his full attention to the 85 criminal and civil indictments he faces
in New York State, Washington DC and Florida.”
