Evan Myers grew up in Philadelphia where his parents were involved in political and education reform movements. A Penn Stater, in the 1960s he served on student government and was involved in Civil Rights and Anti-Vietnam War organizing. An on air-meteorologist at AccuWeather he eventually rose to become its Chief Operating Officer. He has extensive local community involvement; having served on the State College Planning Commission, including as it’s Chair, as a member of the Consolidation Study Commission and the Downtown Vision and Strategic Plan Committee. He recently served as Chair of the Centre Region Council of Governments Finance Committee. Twice elected to State College Council, he has served as Council President. Evan has worked on legislation in State College to ensure fair and affordable housing, racial equity and justice, immigrants’ rights, and the rights of the LGBTQA+ Community. He introduced and worked to pass legislation establishing a local LGBTQ Commission and Police Oversight Board. A longtime Democratic Party activist, he was a precinct committee person for more than 20 years and served as Chair of the State College Democratic Party. He recently chaired the campaign committees for the local Democratic US Congressional candidate and the current State College Mayor. A long serving Board member of Congregation Brit Shalom in State College he also served as Board president.
