DJOP calls for Brian Fitzpatrick to return $27,806
he received from Nazi artifacts collector Harlan Crow
Democratic Jewish Outreach PA (DJOP) today called on U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-
PA 1) to return the $27,806 in campaign contributions he has received since 2018 from
Nazi artifacts collector Harlan Crow.
Crow is the billionaire Dallas, TX real estate titan who has financed the $500,000
vacations of US Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and his wife, “Ginni” Thomas.
Thomas has failed to report the vacations on his financial disclosure forms.
Jill Zipin, Chair of DJOP, said Crow’s reported collection of paintings by Adolph Hitler
and linen napkins owned by Hitler and embroidered with Third Reich icons “should be
enough to send chills down the spine of any member of Congress, especially one who
formerly cochaired the House Bipartisan Task Force for Combatting Antisemitism.”
Zipin said Crow’s contributions and his underwriting of the Thomas’ lavish vacations
“should have been an immediate red flag at some point during the years of these
contributions.” She stated:
“Decency should tell Congressman Fitzpatrick to join DJOP in rejecting Harlan Crow’s
explanation that he collects these items — which include statues of the world’s worst
authoritarian leaders — because he hates fascism.
“As New York Times columnist Jamelle Bouie wrote, ‘When we want to memorialize an
atrocity or crime — when we want to remember the consequences and costs of evil — we
focus on the victims.’
“We don’t know if Harlan Crow admires Nazis or dictators,” Zipin said. “But we find it
unsettling — and we think Rep. Fitzpatrick should, too — that he focuses on them.”
