DJOP urges Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick: Don’t ‘share complicity’ with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene

The board members of the Democratic Jewish Outreach PA today urged Bucks County’s U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) “to vote to hold U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) accountable for her un-American, uncivilized, anti-Semitic and racist comments.”

The House is scheduled to vote today to strip Greene of her seats on the Education and Labor Committee and the Budget Committee. Green maintains that the tragic shootings of school children in Sandy Hook, CT and Parkland, FL were fake, that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is “guilty of treason…a crime punishable by death,” that no airplane crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11, and that Jewish banking families profited by using lasers from outer space to set the California wildfires.

“Congressman Fitzpatrick, you cannot continue to claim that you are a ‘moderate’ while at the same time being comfortable with someone who spouts dangerous, unfounded and discredited QAnon conspiracy theories,” Jill Zipin, DJOP Chair, and Martin Raffel, DJOP board member who lives in Bucks County, said in a letter to Fitzpatrick.

“Especially as a former FBI agent, you should be concerned about a colleague who wants to carry a loaded weapon onto the floor of the House.

“We urge you to do the right thing. Silence in the face of Congresswoman Greene’s dangerous lies is to share complicity in her delusions. It is incompatible with your position as cochair of the House Bipartisan Task Force for Combatting Anti-Semitism,” DJOP’s letter stated. “Even U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), minority leader in the Senate, was correct when said earlier this week that Greene’s ‘looney lies and conspiracy theories’ are a ‘cancer’ to the Republican Party.”

Fitzpatrick was the only Greater Philadelphia-area member of Congress to oppose last month’s House vote to impeach former President Donald J. Trump. It passed in a 232 to 197 vote, with 10 Republican members joining all House Democrats in supporting the measure.

DJOP was formed in 2008 to support progressive candidates and legislation and sponsor educational programs on contemporary issues. Its work is driven by the traditional Jewish values of the pursuit of justice and the principle of tikun olam, Hebrew for “repair of the world.”

Serving with Zipin and Raffel on the DJOP board are David Broida, William Epstein, Brett Goldman, Steven D. Irwin, Adam Kessler, Dina Lichtman, Sharon Perelman, Rabbi Seymour Rosenbloom, Nina Rosenthal, Rabbi Joshua Runyan and Burt Siegel.
